Butterball hotline

In case you missed this (or even if you didn't) thought you might enjoy this segment where Steven Colbert takes over one of the phones at the Butterball Turkey Hotline. Had me laughing out loud several times. :)

Jack Frost's paintbrush and buildings on parade

One of the benefits of temps way below freezing is the frost on the windows in the morning. Unfortunately my iPad doesn't catch the detail very well, but the impressionistic results are quite lovely. Am also including a shot taken on a toddle of some nearby buildings on parade.

2017-07-27 In & around the neighborhood

With temps in the 30sF today, I thought it would be good to see what things looked like back in July as I toddled around the neighborhood. The houses are mostly on the next street east of us, Waldeck, and the lovely sunflowers are from seed packages Jo sent us awhile ago.

From here on down, we're working our way up Tremlett St.

Oh, dear

We had a large branch come down over the neighbor's driveway yesterday @ sunset. Here's the aftermath (as well as a couple photos post-tree limb carving):

their driveway and helping drag the branches

Saw this recent PBS Newshour segment on Wisconsin's Fermentation Fest and thought I'd share it with you:

Ok, where's Sauk county?
