He went that a away

Lots of skyscapes & earthly delights from 2.July.2011. The pride-o-place photo looks to moi like nothing so much as a guy, nose to the sky pointing to his right. Other faves, the bun rab on the Beatrix Potter-like table & the lion ornament.

Went in for the hip injection yest. Seems to have done some bit of good in reducing pain while sitting. Time will tell.

Off soon for some acupuncture then tootling, stitiching & laundry on this day between showers. Unfortunately the tech got on my shirt some of the dye the injected into the joint to guide their work. Here's hoping it comes out.

1.July.2011 toddle

Some shots from a toddle to & from acupuncture. That's the clinic to the left of the community garden in the bottom picture. A lovely garden in the South End, some shots from the public garden, including a live & a not-live horse. And what I can only take was a warning about an iffy right of way.

In the middle of a horrid stretch of humidity. Not to let up until sometime next weekend. :| Tootling & stitching maybe heading out now for a toddle before it gets any warmer.

29.June.2011 finale

I'm going to finish off posting the pix I took that day with the rest of the photos of Bresdin & Redon's lithographs & etchings. Hey, Bresdin's Comedy is from a century from my birth year. And who knew some of Redon's grotesques were inspired by Darwin?

Today is the 4th birthday party for the Dorchester Stitch House. I plan to attend & do my bit to help them & the economy by adding to my already daunting (when I think of knitting it all up) stash.

We had a great time dyeing our yarn yesterday - I unfortunately started out with way too much red so had to add tons o' blue (& a touch of black) to get near the color I had in mind so my custom color will be pretty dark - but pretty nonetheless I hope.

29.June.2011 redux

More photos from that wonderful day @ the museum - Redon's Light (lithograph), Centaur (oil on canvas) & St. Sebastian (watercolor).

I should have known better than to think I could show up after having the tests done that showed a problem & have the specialist doctor fix the problem on the spot. I met with both the plastic surgeon for the cyst on my neck & the musculoskeletal MD for my hip pain only to have the one schedule another meeting for the actual/factual procedure & the other for a cortisone injection on the 29th & follow-up a month thence to see. She seemed to think it was more a muscle problem than the cyst causing the pain. I guess we'll see (I thought it was interesting that she went onto google & then a wikipedia page to show me the anatomical details she was talking about - that's a first in my clinical experience). I begin to feel like some elderly Floridian whose only topic of conversation is their physical ailments.

I did have a chance to swing by the MFA in between, with the accompanying lovely walk along the Fens, to breeze through the new contemporary art wing. Lovely space, some interesting pieces, but, in contrast to their "grand salon" in the newish American wing where I think there's entirely too much stuff on display, I thought they could have used the space in the contemporary wing to greater effect by displaying more material. Not the greatest fan of video "art" though the naked lady floating in the Red Sea while standing on a watermelon (name of the videographer escapes me) was kind of a hoot. And the roomful of Ellsworth Kelly's large pieces of wood were intriguing.

Off soon to acupuncture then to the Dorchester Stitch House where I get to dye a batch of custom-color yarn since I was one of the winners (they had two & I think I should have gotten both since both of my projects entered garnered more votes than anyone else but that's just moi) in their recent Rooftop Challenge. Hoping I can get home before the rain starts to come down. Flood watches out for the weekend but we're usually OK since we're on the top of a hill.

Redon/Bresdin encore

More pix from the Redon/Bresdin show. Remember you can click on the images to see larger versions.

Off soon to the MFA with my friend/Alexander teacher, Joe, and Andy to take in the gem show & the Monet/Lichtenstein show. Then over to Northeastern to tutor a tooter & home to recover.

Jan & Parsifal

This pride-o-place picture (taken on the 29.June.2011 MFA run) of Redon's Parsifal reminds me of Jan. I apologize for the blurriness of some of the shots (most from the Bresdin/Redon etching/lithograph/pastel show @ the MFA) - I guess I wiggle more at some times than others (but then, don't we all?).

Raining today but I still went out for an abbreviated walk to the bank to get a notary to sign off on a bank thingie I needed for Vanguard. Who knew BOA changed their routing number? And they didn't even ask.

9/19

Of course I had to post today since the date is the house address where we wee Rancks grew up. Photos today continue from 29.June.2011 and include shots from the Chihuli glass show @ the MFA. I loved the color & admired the techique but the medium, glass, left me cold. They do make lovely images, though.

Tonight I head out to Melrose for another rehearsal - set up a Craigs list ad today to try to get more students - we'll see what comes of it.

29.June.2011 bis

More shots from my toddle from the Longwood clinical center to the MFA via the Olmstead-designed Fens. One of my favorite walks. Many shots from the fens & one from the front of the MFA. Just tried searching the mfa site to no avail to find the artist for that large baby's head outside the museum facing the fens. It's called "Day."

Maybe a toddle today, since it's so lovely outside. The dahlias are blooming & the air is cool. Also facing the knuckle breakers of the Prokofiev & Mussorgsky & some stitching on a lovely shawl I'm making for moi-meme.
