Ella J. Baker, Snitch, clouds & fleurs

Some shots from 12 & 14.July.2010. The house is the "Ella J. Baker House." Not knowing who she was, I looked her up. Snitch is guarding my projects bag (bought for a mere $12 or @ the sad event of Woolcott's, a Cambridge yarn store of some 30+ years, closing.

The other shots from around the neighborhood during my toddle. Speaking of which, I'm heading out now to get one in before the rain starts. 70F with a dewpoint of same (where oh where is the drier weather??).

Teaching @ NEU tiring but OK - though the fellow still doesn't seem to be putting in sufficient time for his embouchure not to poop out before we're through the first duet of sight reading. I might have to read him the riot act next week (now where did I put it?).

Neighborhood shots

A house, a couplea yards & a playground, no longer in use cuz the school's closed. All from 5.July.2010.

Heading out now for today's toddle before the heat & humidity get even more oppressive. Then some tootling & stitching & heading off to Northeastern mid-afternoon for the Wednesday teaching marathon. Had one student try to beg off since she hadn't practiced much. HA! Nipped that right in the bud - we'll talk about harmony if nothing else (have her begin to sketch out I-IV-V-I arpeggii if she's really quick). Where's my whip & chair?

Home again, home again jiggety jig

These from the last day @ the cabin (23.June.2010) (a shot from the front bedroom & looking from the patio to the side yard), and a few cloudscapes generated by a terrific storm that hit the area that day - causing flight cancellations & associated headaches. Made it to Boston safe & sound if several hours late.

Just got back from the Cambridge grocery run - will this horrid summer of heat & humidity never end???? 75F out there now with a dewpoint of 69F blech, blech and double blech! Tomorrow's forecast for more of the same & even hotter. Not want to wish my life away I am SO looking forward to December when I can don my sweaters and laugh @ the cold.

Cabin, Twin Ctites and Dave's Falls

This from 21.June.2010 when I was way-laid by some kind of flu bug & 22.June.2010, Mom's actual, factual b'day with trips to Marinette/Menominee & Dave's Falls (reminds me of the gorge near Presbytery Point in da lovely U.P.), including a shot of Menominee's 1st Presby church.

Tutored one of my Northeastern tooters this AM - not the world's most enthusiastic student but she has a good command of the basics and I'm challenging her quite a bit with sightreading and harmonic awareness in etudes and who likes to spend a whole hour plus doing things they aren't good at (yet)? Melrose rehearsal tonight where yours truly will have to do the same with the Firebird movement (the variations) on the docket.

Cloudy & misty, moisty today - rain in the forecast all week. If I'd known that I'da done laundry over the weekend. :|

Reunion Day 4

Aftermath of dance party - we shut down the place (and Pat looks a little pooped).

And morning pictures of the final day, including breakfast, and a glorious June sky (can you find moi in the class picture?).

Today's a day of tooting, toddling and vacuuming if I get a round tuit. Glorious sunny weather of 67F heading up to 69F.

Reunion day 3 cont'

Finishing out day 3 of reunion - with shots of river views from new dorms, chums partying hearty, the Conservatory lounge, possible martians, East House, where I lived most of my Lawrence career, campus shots, etc.

Heading out soon for a polarity treatment. Then tootling, stitching, & waiting for the heat & humidity to lift (they promise it will by day's end).

The second day of Christmas

The Young People's Chorus of New York City singing the 12 days of Christmas, and Jingle Bells
