Light show, etc.

Here is a picture & video of the biggest light show in our neighborhood, and another video that ought to get your toes tapping & get you in the Christmas spirit if you're not already. :)

Sugar Plum like no other

If this doesn't get you in the mood, I don't know what will. What an ensemble! Get a load of that bass note! In case you're interested, it's The Pentatonix. Listening to the clips on the rest of the CD, I think I like them best without lyrics. (Though the Mr. Grinch video on their homepage is pretty good, too, if a bit long.)

One of my favorite things

I've been sending around examples of catch breaths, those things singers & wind players need to be able to do to breathe without interrupting the musical phrase. Andy sent me this example of one of our favorites, Kristen Chenoweth singing one of our (at least my) favorite songs from Candide. I'd like to share it with you.

Meet Toby

The newest member of our household. He's still not sure he trusts me and hasn't got run of the full house, but we're hopeful once he does that Mimsy and he will get along.

Black bottom

In this era of folks' careers bottoming out when their youthful (and not so young) appearances in black face come to light, here's a 1926 dance (their version of contemporary country line dances?), I thought you might enjoy. Be sure to read the text below the video on youtube to see where it came from.

How many times will you have to watch it to have it down? And who needs aerobics after that workout?

These provided me with a well-needed laugh. Hope they provide one for you, too.

Carole Cadwalldr and data collection

From April, 2019: "[J]ournalist Carole Cadwalladr digs into one of the most perplexing events in recent times: the UK's super-close 2016 vote to leave the European Union. Tracking the result to a barrage of misleading Facebook ads targeted at vulnerable Brexit swing voters -- and linking the same players and tactics to the 2016 US presidential election -- Cadwalladr calls out the "gods of Silicon Valley" for being on the wrong side of history and asks: Are free and fair elections a thing of the past?"

Tim Conway R.I.P.

With Tim Conway's death at 85 today, and with all the dentists and oral hygienists in my family, how could I not post this?

Technological art?

I loved this, as well as finding it scary. I know I tend to avoid video installations at  museums - too much like watching TV. Probably a generational thing.

Bauhaus 100

It's been awhile since I've posted any pictures, so here are the ones I took on Valentine's Day @ the centennial exhibition at the Fogg, which has an enormous collection of things Bauhaus, and at the ancillary show @ the Houghton Library.

I hate it when things are covered by glass, though I think I discovered a work-around @ the MFA recently, that if I take the shot at a slight angle to full-frontal, the reflection is at least less.

I know you can't read this. Maybe
the larger version in you click on it might help.

Sorry so fuzzy. I'll try to get a clearer one.

Here begins the Houghton show
