More from 24.Feb.2016

Some more pix from that Wednesday trip out to see the flowers. I think the hills you see are the Judaen ones.

This again from the walk Jan takes most mornings in Bet Zait
Arie had gone ahead in the car to meet us at the end.

As Jan would remind me,
all this would be brown in a few weeks.

Cats napping at a gas station
where we'd stopped so I could get my morning cuppa.

Jordan from the Israeli side

When Jan saw how far gone most of the flowers (like the red anemones pictured above) she decided to switch our itinerary to doing the north of the country first. So the next few posts will feature pix from that part of the country. Of especial note will be when we were within spitting distance of the Syrian border above the Sea of Galilee where we heard what I thought was thunder but was actually bombing from the horrible war going on there.

Pix and a vid from Israel

So now for some pictures and a couple movies from the trip:

This a construction project at the Tel Aviv airport -
When I saw all that sand I said to myself, "This really is a desert.

If you look closely, you can see "Welcome"
as one of the first things you see from the arrival gate.

The next afternoon we went seeking the wild cyclamen.
We found them.

Jan & Arie's house in Bet Zait

Their welcoming front door.

Looking up their street in the moshav.

I think this was the 3rd morning 24.Feb. 2016 heading off on another flower hunt.

Jan wanted to share a walk she takes almost every day.
You wouldn't think you were in the middle of a big city.

First pix

With my new Panasonic Lumix camera (that I got since my 15-year-old Canon developed Alzheimer's almost immediately after landing in Israel & couldn't remember the year/day/date/time. :|)

This still from 22.Feb.2016:

This from 24.Feb.2016:
And I bet you never thought you'd hear this in Israel:

(that's someone practicing in the bomb shelter that is in front of Jan & Arie's apartment)

Flights of angels

Well, if not angels exactly, certainly one of the most dramatic things I saw on my recent trip: the cranes in the Hula bird sanctuary leaving their daytime feeding area to the place on the water where they sleep (safety from predators, doncha know).

And a flock of them flew overhead my head in Palmachim my last day of the trip, heading for points north, as if to say "Bon voyage."
