Oooo, pretties
I think I saw this Met Museum jewelry show during my 2020 trip to visit college friends, Margi & Michael. Can't say I remember the pieces the curator mentions and you'd think that spectacular Marie Zimmerman black opal brooch would have stuck in the mind. But no. Anyway - decadent Russian court of Nicholas II? Not sure about that. Seems kinda judgey.

Morning's long shadow
This is what greeted me as I rose early this AM (for moi, anyway, 5:58A) and made my way down to breakfast. How many moments like this do I miss by sleeping way past sunrise?
I also like those, lost now that we park the car on the other side of the house, when the sun would bounce off the car windows into the living room providing a shadow on the far wall of the plants in the window.
As usual, I think you can see a bigger version by clicking on the image.

Nobska Beach
Here is a photo one of my Northeastern students shared with me. She captured it on Nobska Beach near her home on the Cape in Falmouth. I think if you click on it you can see a bigger image.

From me to you
While I could wish this were less dirge-like, I share the sentiments. Heard on A Late Show last night. Part of their "Play at home" series.
Wilco's new song "Tell Your
Friends" is available for immediate download with a charitable
contribution ($1 or more!) to World Central Kitchen.
lyrics
Don’t forget to tell your friends
When you see them again
O’ I love you
O’ I love you
I wanna hold your hand
C’mon let’s twist again
I wanna hold your hand
When I see you again
Don’t forget to tell your friends
This is going to end
O’ and I needed you
O’ I need you
Our love is right
Our love is real
Our love is now
Our love is real
I want to hold your hand
When I see you again
Don’t forget to tell yourself
When you see them again
O’ I love you
O’ I love you
Our love is real
Our love is right
Our love is now
Our love is right
Don’t forget to tell your friends
When you see them again
O’ I love you
O’ I love you
When you see them again
O’ I love you
O’ I love you
I wanna hold your hand
C’mon let’s twist again
I wanna hold your hand
When I see you again
Don’t forget to tell your friends

Introducing Rupert
I got this pin awhile ago after I'd visited the Richmond Museum (OK, OK, The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts) gift shop. The very imaginative Kris Taylor makes them. Click on the link if you're interested in commissioning your own. :)
With apologies for the resting bitch face. Yes, it's a thing. |

Knit happens no. I don't remember
Ready for some knitting-related laughs (at least I hope that will be your response)? OK. Here goes. (In case you wonder about the last photo, it's Winter the llama.)

What's old is new again
Some photos from yesterday and from 2009 at the cabin that somehow never made it here. Hadn't I started the blog then? Does Google only allow 10 years' worth of posts? Dunno. You'll understand why we Ranck sibs say we don't know where people who live on the lake go when they die since they're already in heaven.

2020-05-12 Latest on the flower front
Day before yesterday I went out to capture the state of the garden. Sadly, the violets are mostly gone due to lawn mowing. The lilacs are late this year, I think since Mother's Day @ the Arboretum is usually called Lilac Sunday. Oh, and the first photo is actually from 2018 showing our Wright garden sprite hiding among the foliage.
