More Wellesley snafus. Fingers crossed the easy switch works out! Heading off now to acupuncture then back home to meet with a friend about building his website. When will the tootling & toddling come in (not to mention the laundry)? :|

Heading out now to check a manuscript @ the HU music library. One of the few pieces I've found with a single trumpet & no trombones in a chamber ensemble. Then to an Alexander lesson. Then back to check out a snafu with Wellesley ensemble scheduling (O God). Tootling & toddling somewhere in the mix. We're forecast for rain @ some point so I hope I miss it.

Another morning glory

Had my daily toddle already - much easier to work up a light sweat when the temp is 64F (already @ 8:30AM!). We're forecast for more normal temps by weekend. It's been hotter here the last few days than in Jerusalem according to this weather site. http://tinyurl.com/2aqkjdm

Now off to a grocery run, tootling, laundry & stitching. No job on the Andy front yet. He doesn't seem concerned.

Yarn Crawl et fleurs - Praise Jesus and pass the water

One last picture from the yarn crawl - this a sculpture near the T stop @ Porter Square near Mind's Eye yarn shop. The rest from either our yard (the two croci close ups) or a neighbor's.

The boil water ban has finally been lifted - after 3 days - but now we have to run our cold water taps for a few minutes & the hot for up to 30 to flush our system & get the water from the street. I'm thinking I'll just take a long shower.

Plodding ahead with arranging ensembles for Wellesley. Some minor glitches but (fingers crossed) nothing so far that's brought the entire house of cards down.

Thought you might be interested to see moi in my latest finished Handmaid, Unltd. creation, working on my newest one.

Hot & humid - still boiling water. Just bought two largish hand sanitizers for hand cleansing & some plastic utensils & we're waiting for our bleach rinse water to be ready to finally wash some dishes. Good news: there's apparently treated water being sent down the pipes but the bad stuff still needs to be flushed out of the system so it'll be another couple days at least. Andy just told me that Cambridge has its own water supply so isn't affected by this debacle. Is it worth it to schlep to Harvard to take a safe shower in their gym facilities? One thing I haven't heard addressed is the environmental impact of those millions of gallons of treated, chlorinated/floridated water cascading into the Charles River.

No Melrose rehearsal tonight, yippee! But that Firebird variation is staring me in the face and you KNOW we're going to take it lickety split.

Have to say the concert last night could have gone worse - the Weber was even almost credible. Had a brain fart during the Stars & Stripes when standing with the other two piccolists & trying to play from memory, but except for a thinning of the texture, what with all the clapping along, drinking, etc., I don't think the audience noticed.
And yes, we have to boil our water - at least for the next few days. Fortunately I order bottled water _way_ ahead ever since the delivery company started charging a "oil surcharge" for every delivery so I get tons & then can skip the next few - and fortunately we're not @ the end of that cycle, so we have about 4 5-gallon containers that I HOPE will tide us over.

Other than that I might take the day of tootling - and come to think of it should get out now for my toddle before the temps hit their projected high of 88F and humid today (blech). On the other hand, I just discovered we're doing Stravinsky's Firebird next fall, with its HUGE flute solo, so best I get cracking on that.

More early blossoms

This another from 20/Mar/2010. Tomorrow I'll have more time to do more of the photos I grabbed that day. Today it's teaching, getting a Polarity treatment, tootling in preparation for the concert tonight. Fingers crossed that the 32nd note wind passages that open the Oberon overture don't totally suck. And the Copland Lincoln Portrait has uncomfortable undertones today that it totally lacked when I heard it before.
