18.Jan.2012 Harlem & Brooklyn

Shots today from Margi & Michael's apartment window, overlooking their terrace, and from the Brooklyn Museum & in & around Bill's lab. Unfortunately both shows I saw at the Bklyn museum, HIDE/SEEK: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture & Youth and Beauty: Art of the American Twenties*  didn't allow photos so I grabbed some of a striking statue in the lobby & another piece by a Senegalese artist. After a delicious dinner of take away @ Bill & Dales apt. in Queens, we took the subway into Manhattan to see a performance of Road to Mecca, with an amazing performance by Rosemary Harris (@ 84!) and an incredible set.

Cloudy today though sun promised later - ridiculous temperature of 72F forecast for today. Heading off soon for a Polarity treatment.

*That's a portrait of a young Paul Cadmus by Luigi Lucioni on the Y&B exhibition website -  he had a couple stunners in the show, including Kissed by Sprite, Tempted by Pan - how dare an "art history" site include a cropped reproduction. Unfortunately this is the only full one I could find. What struck me about this work was the contemporary subject - male kissing (or perhaps it's not all that new) - portrayed in an ancient medium, egg tempera - used in the since the first century CE.
