2016-03-06: The Shelter and Dolphin Reef

As we got ready to leave the Red Sea, Arie struck up a conversation with a local who recommended a hostel run by a friend of his, the Shelter, established by an American couple, Not for the only time did Arie uncover a very reasonable (by resort standards, anyway) place to stay. The website says the rooms are air conditioned. If by that they meant they had windows, I guess that's true. Jan & Arie kindly sprang for a separate room for moi. though we could have all fit in one, given the bunk beds. If one was willing to sleep al fresco, rates were even less/night.

The next day we headed to Dolphin Reef, a wonderful business run by an army buddy of Arie's (who gave us a free guided tour) where they have hot tubs, cold tubs, a lovely beach, peacocks (and as you'll see below, ducklings), and most amazingly, a Red Sea retreat for dolphins. The dolphins are free to come & go as they please, i.e. they're not caged in. The employees only study them, not making the dolphins literally jump through hoops or do anything else just for the entertainment of the masses. First pix from that emporium today.

Another delicious breakfast.

Packing up to leave.

Dolphin Reef - I think we got in free since Arie knows the owner.

Peacocks just wandering around the place.
