One of the perils of sorting out photos when your camera has developed Alzheimers & said everything was taken on Jan. 1, 1980, and you are relying on your trip diary to determine what was taken when, is that you're almost bound to mix something up. So it was with the last picture of Jan yesterday. If I'd been more awake I'd have noticed she was dressed differently, and in the last photo, was headed out the door for a marathon day of teaching @
David Yellin College. So it was, too, that I was on my own for most of the day, spending time @ an English tour of Israel's
Knesset (starting @ 8:30AM, thank you very little) with their
Chagall wall hangings and mosaics, photos below, and many hours @ the Israel Museum (photos to follow tomorrow & later).
When I arrived @ the
Knesset, there were 9 or so other folks waiting for a German-language tour, whose guide didn't show up. The English-language guide asked how many of the Germans spoke English and most of them raised their hands, so off we went. Kind of a shame, since having a one-on-one tour would have been great, on the other hand they might have called off the whole thing and then what would I have done until the Israel Museum opened?
It turned out, too, that on Thursdays the Knesset isn't in session so we were able to enter the committee room & the main debate hall that would have been off-limits had the officials been there.

Like most construction in Jerusalem, the Knesset is
